1. SHARE YOUR STORY

Tell us about your efforts to bring, create, or maintain peace in your neighborhood. Whether it’s through community organizing, acts of kindness, public service, or creative initiatives, we want to hear from you!

2. APPLY TODAY

The application window for the 2026 Peace Portraits is now closed.

3. SELECTION PROCESS

Our panel of judges will review all submissions and select honorees based on the impact of their stories and actions.

4. VIDEO & PHOTOGRAPHY SHOOT

The Illinois Peace Project will coordinate a personalized video and photography shoot with each honoree in their neighborhood.

5. FEATURED SHOWCASE

Honorees will be showcased in a digital campaign on the Illinois Peace Project website, where their stories will inspire others and amplify the message of peace. Additionally, they will be celebrated at a special screening event during Gun Violence Awareness Month in June 2026.

If selected, you hereby grant Illinois Peace Project and its parent organizations permission to use your likeness in a photograph, video or digital or other medium in any and all of its publications, including website entries, or promotional materials without payment or any other consideration. These materials containing your likeness will become the property of Illinois Peace Project and its parent organizations and will not be returned, nor will you be given or have a right to a copy. You hereby irrevocably authorize Illinois Peace Project and its parent organizations to edit, alter, copy, exhibit, publish or distribute your likeness for any lawful purpose.
