Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Rep. Robin Kelly (D-2nd) were in Washington, D.C. on Friday for the unveiling of the White House’s new Office of Gun Violence Prevention.
Created via executive order, the new office is tasked with coordinating a nationwide effort to reduce the country’s worsening gun violence epidemic in the face of congressional gridlock. The first-of-its-kind office will be overseen by Vice President Kamala Harris.
