Researchers from Northwestern University evaluated outcomes for the Chicago CRED (Create Real Economic Destiny) program and found that those who completed the full program were more than 73% less likely to have an arrest for a violent crime in the two years following enrollment compared to individuals who did not participate.

Community Violence Outreach Workers Are More Likely to Experience Gun Violence Than Police Are

The study from this article found that 60% of workers reported witnessing a shooting, 32% reported witnessing someone get shot at while working, and 20% reported being injured while doing intervention work. The study concludes that workers deserve more investment in their effort and should not be treated as disposable.
