Over the summer, Chicago’s community violence intervention (CVI) organizations united to host a series of community advocacy events, with the goal of engaging local leaders, emphasizing the significance of their work, and promoting safer communities. These events represented a powerful collective effort to combat gun violence in Chicago.
Distinguished figures, including Representative Chuy Garcia, 1st Ward Alderman Daniel La Spata, 37th Ward Alderman Emma Mitts, and Cook County Commissioner Stanley Moore, among others, joined hands with CVI representatives and community members at these gatherings. The discussions centered on strategies like street outreach, workforce development, and life coaching to address gun violence and provide support to those at risk. These events collectively underscored the strong commitment of local leaders to reduce gun violence and enhance safety on Chicago’s streets. Their dedication to this vital cause is truly commendable.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the CVI organizations and leaders for their unwavering dedication to reducing gun violence in Illinois. As community members, we too can contribute by staying involved and learning more about CVI organizations in our own neighborhoods. Together, we can make a significant impact on reducing gun violence across Illinois #WhatIsCVI
